The satellite business for Mahanati that has emerged as the best film of this year has been wrapped up.

The TV rights have been given to Star Maa and the satellite rights were bagged by Amazon. In all, Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam rights brought in Rs 15 crore.Though it was said that the rights will bring an additional Rs 18 crore, the business was closed at Rs 15 crore.

Surprisingly, prior to release, the rate was estimated at Rs 10.5 crore. Initially, the producers went ahead without selling the rights and after the release, they hoped for Rs 18 crore.

However, since there are no top Telugu heroes and since it's a biopic, the buyers were contemplating on the rate as they doubted repeat value. So, the business was closed at Rs 15 crore, instead of Rs 18 crore.

However, in all, the film managed to make more than half the production costs with satellite and digital rights.
