It’s not often that a debutante with no filmi background whatsoever bags not one, but three films before the release of her first. Bengaluru gal Nishvika Naidu has that distinction to her credit, and while it’s a great confidence boost for her, now that she is getting ready for her launchpad, the young actress says that she is a bundle of nerves. “A lot has been said and written about the fact that I got to work on three films without having anything to show as work experience. That has, in a way, put a burden of expectation on me, as audiences will wait to see what I bring to the table. If they like it, well and good. If they don’t, then they will wonder why I got three films.

So, I am nervous,” says Nishvika. As it turns out, Nishvika’s debut film is the KM Chaitanya-directed Amma I Lvove You, which pits her opposite Chiranjeevi Sarja. “As a trained classical dancer who has been performing for many years, I always yearned to be in showbiz. I used to model for a clothing brand during my college years in Bengaluru, after which I went to Mumbai to pursue a course in acting. Once back, I got the call to audition for the Anish Tejeshwar-starrer Vaasu Nan Pakka Commercial, which I got through fairly easily. I had completed a schedule of Vaasu…, when Yogish Dwarakish, the producer of Amma I Love You, called me for an audition. I was told that many others were trying for the role and when I went for my first test, there were two experienced actresses there, so, I was pretty sure I wouldn’t make it.

In fact, I didn’t hear from the team for a week and then I got called again for another audition. I must have auditioned at least 3-4 times before bagging the role,” she says.In the film, Nishvika plays Bindu, a middle-class girl who is strong, emotional and fiercely independent, so much so that she turns entrepreneur with a bunch of friends by running a pizza café, instead of being employed by someone else. “Initially, I was scared in Chiru sir’s presence, because he has this strict and serious air about him. Later, however, I realised that he is fun-loving and a complete prankster on the set. It was good fun working with him and, of course, Chaitanya, who helped me through every scene. I am glad Amma I Love You is my debut vehicle,” she signs off
