'Baahubali' franchise has changed the market dynamics of filmmaking in India.  Producers Shobu Yarlagadda, Prasad Deveneni believed in the grand vision of director Rajamouli and invested huge amount on the film.  Though they have started the shooting with an intention to release it in a single part, they have changed the strategy for the recovery of the high costs involved.   Coming to the present, they are planning a prequel to 'Baahubali'.
It is going to be a web series and it will be telecasted in Netflix.   It will be made in three parts and the Netflix is investing huge Rs.350 crores along with the Arka Media Works.  This is the highest budget invested in India on a web-series. Though it is common for Hollywood makers to invest huge amounts in the web series and make them on par with the movies, the trend is yet to catch up with Indian makers.
The first part will be directed by Deva Katta of 'Prasthanam' fame.  Two other directors are in discussion for the other two parts of the web series.  Rajamouli will take the responsibility of direction supervision for the prequel.  The web series is based on the book 'The Rise Of Sivagami' penned by Anand Nilakantan.
