Akshay Kumar and Mouni Roy starrer Gold has finally hit the theatres today. The Reema Kagti directorial is a period drama set in the period between 1936-1948 when India won its first Olympic Gold in the field of Hockey as Independent India. It is only befitting that the film releases today as India celebrates its 72nd Independence Day. Gold also stars Vineet Kumar Singh, Amit Sadh, Kunal Kapoor in pivotal roles. The movie has been co-produced by Excel Entertainment.

Akshay and Mouni have been showing a great camaraderie during promotions and the word of mouth is anything to go by, the movie is all set for a big win. However, in Delhi, during promotions, when Akshay was asked about his rapport with co-stars on the sets, he said, "We are friends. We enjoy ourselves. I play a lot of games with them, and there has not been even one day on the sets that we haven’t played." But, he added that Mouni was kind of snobbish on sets. Yes, you read it right!

He added, "Mouni wouldn't play any games. She was a snob on the sets of the film!" (laughs) Mouni immediately jumped to her defence claiming that she used to play games like ludo and snakes and ladder. Akshay agreed to it saying, "So, I just enjoy with them. I don’t have any approach. It is not like - I have been in the industry for 28 years now and they are new, so I will act differently. My approach towards them is that they are really good friends, and I try to learn and gain from them as much as possible."

Gold clashes with John Abraham's Satyameva Jayate at the box office.
