Born in Sirsi, Karnataka and raised in New Zealand, actress Latha Hegde, who started her filmy career with Telugu film ‘Tuntari’ starring Nara Rohith in 2016, is making her Kannada debut with ‘Athiratha’. She revealed that Athiratha is based on the real life incident, which happened in Bengaluru. She plays an NRI who came back to India and becomes a Journalist (TV reporter). She is the part of an outfit, which deals with exposing education scandals.
She added that as a part of preparation for her role, she watched number of videos of a TV reporters’ work. The film is directed by Mahesh Babu and jointly produced by Prem, Dr Venugopal and Gandasi Manjunath whereas it has the music by Suraag. Actor Chetan is playing lead role.
She also said, though she came to India after 15 years but she is still fluent in Kannada. According to her, the experience of debuting in a Telugu film has made dubbing lines in her mother tongue much easier.
