Karthi stole the hearts of Telugu audience with his outstanding performance in Akkineni Nagarjuna starrer ‘Oopiri’ in the direction of Vamsi Paidipally. After finding a strong foot hold in Tollywood lately, now Karthi is aiming to make it big in both the industries. He is coming up with his latest film ‘Khakee’ to entertain the Telugu audience. 'Khakhee' is the Telugu dubbed version of Tamil film 'Theeran Adhigaaram Ondru'. The film is directed by H Vinod, who is known for Sathuranga Vettai which was released in 2014. The film has Rakul Preet as female lead, Abhimanyu Singh plays the main antagonist. Marathi poet and actor Kishore Kadam is making her debut in Tamil with this film and she is said to be playing a very important role. The film is based on true events. The makers have released the first look poster of the film where Karthi is seen in the police getup and Rakul Preet Singh is holding him affectionately.
Karthi is playing a police officer for the first time in six years. He was last seen as a cop in 2011 film Siruthai, which was a remake of Vikramarkudu. Aditya Music is venturing into film production with this film.
Tamil version of the film is set to hit the theaters on the occasion of Diwali whereas the makers are planning to release the Telugu version at a later date to avoid the competition from Nagarjuna, Samantha Ruth Prabhu and Seerat Kapoor’s horror drama 'Raju Gari Gadhi 2' and Mass Maharaja Ravi Teja’s 'Raja The Great' etc. films in Telugu.
