Los Angeles, Nov 3 :  Actress Lucy Liu, seen as Joan Watson in TV show "Elementary", says she loves working on television because "there is so much quality artistic work".

"I love working in television, especially now that there is so much quality artistic work being made. An amazing challenge for me is to be able to tell a successful story over such a long span of time," Liu said in a statement.

Liu has been a part of films like "Charlie's Angels", "Kill Bill", "Payback", "Chicago and "Kung Fu Panda" franchise.

She is currently seen in "Elementary" -- based on the detective stories of Sherlock Holmes. It is aired in India on AXN.

On the show, she said: "It's incredible that Rob (Doherty) and his team have the imagination to continue creating such intricate, unique episodes for more than 100 episodes."

"Elementary" gives a modern spin to Arthur Conan Doyle's creations, and replaces John Watson with a female version.

Talking about her character, she said: "Joan as a character is complex and sensitive which was huge pull for me. I was honoured to get to bring to life a character from such a classic work of literature. Watson'' character as a woman was always envisioned by Rob.

"He wanted them to have a platonic relationship based on respect and support that (though they were living together) had no romantic undertones and was not headed in a sexual direction."
