New Delhi: Aamir Khan's Secret Superstar had impressed the critics as well as the audience the moment it released. The movie starring Aamir Khan and Dangal girl Zaira Wasim hit the box office on October 19, 2017.

The movie tells the story of a young girl named Insia who wishes to be a singer. However, her father does not allow her to do so and Insia decides to share her singing with the world through YouTube. The 14-year-old sets up her own YouTube channel and starts posting videos of herself singing. She hides her identity wearing a burkha and rises to fame.

Secret Superstar released in China recently and had an overwhelming response. The movie collected a whopping $ 6.79 million (? 43.35 cr) and the figures are expected to go higher. Moreover, the movie has broken Dangal's record of day one collections in China. Dangal collected Rs 15 crore on its opening day in China.

With such an incredible day one collection, will Aamir's Secret Superstar become India’s highest grossing movie worldwide? Time shall tell!

However, Secret Superstar didn't collect much on the opening day in India. The movie minted Rs ? 4.80 Crore.

"Both 'Dangal' and this film are based on the same topic... That we look differently at our daughters. And probably we aren't able to give the same treatment to our daughters as our sons. So, 'Secret Superstar' is another film based on empowerment of the girl child,"  Aamir told IANS in an event.
