Hichki actress Rani Mukerji and Yash Raj scion Aditya Chopra are now married. But if you thought that their first meeting back in the day was a love at first sight affair, with the filmmaker falling in love with the gorgeous lady, you are getting a bit too filmi here. The actress was on the chat show BFFs with Vogue hosted by Neha Dhupia and that’s where she spilled the beans about how she first met the director, who later stole her heart. It was awkward and an in your face conversation.

Recalling the time, Rani confessed that she met Adi when she was already carrying around the weight of a couple of flops on her shoulder. And Aditya wasted no time and underlining the fact for her when they met professionally. “He told me that I’m doing a couple of crap films and that people have pressured him not to take me because they think you don’t have the equity for a Yash Raj film,” Rani said, making Neha and Sabyasachi Mukherjee (who was accompanying her on the show) wonder if she made the cut for the said film or not. Thankfully for her, Adi believed in her talent and thought that she fit the role in Mujhse Dosti Karoge (2002) perfectly and so cast her.

But that conversation must have been awkward and uncomfortable, to have someone highlight your flaw especially when you are meeting them for the first time? But that wasn’t the case for Rani. She said in the same interview, “My mother and I have been very upfront people always and I like frankness and openness so I like the fact that he was on my face.”

Now, the tables have turned. While he called the shots for her then, she is now his wife and one who rules his heart and home. Neha asked Rani is she ever curses and abuses and Rani revealed, “Yes, I do. I curse my husband every day; I abuse my husband every day,” further sharing the reason why she does so, “He does such loving things that the cursing comes out with love! So, in my family when we curse, we curse with love. We don’t curse with hate. If I curse somebody, that means I really love that person.” Strange, but sweet. Haina?
