In June, 2014, Preity Zinta lodged a complaint at Marine Drive police station, accusing her ex-boyfriend, Ness Wadia of molesting and intimidating her at Wankhede stadium on May 30, 2014 during the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings. And now, almost 3 years later, the Marine Drive police filed a charge sheet in the case, yesterday.

Ness Wadia, who co-owns the Indian Premier League (IPL) team Kings XI Punjab along with Zinta, was present in the court of the chief metropolitan magistrate, when the police submitted the 200-page charge sheet. He was, however, granted bail on the personal surety of Rs 20,000.Wadia has been charged under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) sections 354 (assault or criminal force against woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and 509 (word, gesture, or act intended to insult the modesty of woman).Zinta and Wadia were in a relationship for five years (2005-2009).

According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Zinta’s complaint said that Wadia had abused the team staff over ticket distribution when he saw Zinta was seated in the Garware Pavilion. She further said she changed her seat and sat next to a friend in another enclosure, but Wadia abused her again on the ground in front of her team members. In August 2014, American national Gene Goodenough, who married Zinta in 2016, sent his statement to the police through email. In his statement, Goodenough supported the claims made by the actress stating he had intervened when Wadia abused Zinta.

The charge sheet will pave way for the trial to start. Let’s see what further developments take place in this case.
