Think David Dhawan and the first thing that will come to your mind is rib-tickling comedies. The filmmaker is best known for his ability to leave us in splits, but it looks like he is inspired by his son, Varun Dhawan, to try something different.

Varun Dhawan is gearing up for the release of Shoojit Sircar's October, which is a far cry from run-of-the-mill love stories. The actor had said at the trailer launch of October that he needed to do this film at this point of his career.

"This film is based on honesty, I couldn't do anything else which I do in other films. I couldn't remove my shirt, dance, can't behave cute, I can't do all those things," he had said. And it is Varun's openness to experiment, even at the peak of his career, that has moved David Dhawan.

"I can't believe the work that my son is doing. When I look at the work he's doing I forget everything I've done so far. Varun is not afraid of failure. He doesn't follow any formula, nor adhere to any set pattern. I need to also move away from the set formula, find an adventurous route. He tells me it's very liberating. I must try it," David told Bollywood Hungama.

The filmmaker told the website that he will make a film with Varun that promises to be "entirely unexpected, even shocking". He said, "If Varun can fall so comfortably into my formula in Judwaa 2, I can just as easily move away from the formula to create something completely unexpected with Varun."

October will hit the theatres on April 13.
